Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- Sri Lanka has secured over one billion US dollars in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first year of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's term, Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Rathnayake said.
Minister Ratnayake speaking at the Parliament, today, Sri Lanka has received US $ 1.015 billion FDIs since last October, meaning the funds have been received and are not just pledged.
He said that agreements were signed with various countries in multiple sectors, including economy, education, and culture, and that the figures could be verified with the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI).
