Sri Lanka, June 17 -- The companies that import milk powder had directed a request to the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) to grant permission to increase the price of their products.

The companies have stated that the rice of milk powder price in the global market and the increase in shipping charges as causes for this demand.

As per the request, one kilogram of milk powder is requested to be increased from Rs 350 and the 400-gram milk packet by Rs 140.

Currently, the price of one kilogram of milk powder is Rs 945, while with the requested increase, the price would rise to Rs 1,295.
