Sri Lanka, Oct. 19 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the government now understands the depth and scale of the current crisis involving narcotics, associated crimes, and their political connections.

The President emphasised that this is not merely a drug trade or the activity of simple criminal gangs, but a system deeply intertwined with politics, in which certain parts of the state mechanism are directly and indirectly contributing.
