Sri Lanka, June 27 -- Following the recent local government elections, the National People's Power (NPP) has significantly expanded its control, now leading 213 local government bodies across Sri Lanka.

This includes securing control in 59 councils where no single party achieved an outright majority.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has successfully formed councils in 28 local government bodies, bringing their total to 30.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has established power in four local authorities, while the United National Party (UNP) has yet to form a council in any local government body.
