Sri Lanka, May 16 -- A. K. S. Indika Kumari Liyanage has assumed duties as the 11th Commissioner General of Examinations, marking the first time a woman has held this position in Sri Lanka.

The newly appointed Commissioner General is a member of the 2005 batch of the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service and holds a Special Grade position within the service.

Prior to this appointment, she served as the Commissioner of Examinations in charge of the Confidential School Examinations Branch and the Commissioner of Examinations in charge of the Administration and Investigations Branch of the Department of Examinations.
