India, Aug. 10 -- Former infielder Ichiro Suzuki was honored by the Seattle Mariners in a jersey retirement ceremony at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, on Saturday. Suzuki currently resides in Issaquah, Washington, a suburb near Seattle-where he settled with his wife Yumiko Fukushima, during his playing days with the Mariners.
As the Seattle Mariners retired his jersey no 51, Mariners chairman John Stanton that Ichiro will be honored with a statue, which will feature his signature batting stance with the right hand holding the bat. The statue will be inaugurated outside the T-Mobile Park in Seattle at the start of the 2026-27 season.
