U.P. voters may send a nominee to sir hearing
New Delhi, Jan. 23 -- Uttar Pradesh is set to roll out a new facility to ease the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearing process of electoral rolls, allowing voters to authorise any person, including booth level agents of political parties, to attend hearings on their behalf and submit documents digitally.
The order is expected to be issued on Friday, officials aware of the matter said, and similar measures are likely to be adopted by other states in the coming weeks.
Under the proposed framework, electors who receive notices during the SIR process will be permitted to authorise another individual to represent them at hearings.
