Dehradun, Feb. 20 -- The Uttarakhand cabinet on Wednesday approved a new land law prohibiting sale of agriculture land to people from outside the state, except in the Uddham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts where such sales would need to be approved by the state government.

The law is aimed at ensuring balanced development and protection of the hill state's fragile ecology. The new land law was cleared in the cabinet meeting chaired by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and is likely to be tabled in budget session, which started this week. P8
