New Delhi, Jan. 25 -- A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court will hear on January 28 the interim bail plea of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain, after a split verdict by an earlier bench of the top court led the matter to be referred to Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna to constitute a larger bench.

The matter will now be heard by a bench of justices Vikram Nath, Sanjay Karol and Sandeep Mehta.

Hussain, who is facing multiple cases over his role in the 2020 northeast Delhi riots, has sought bail to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on an AIMIM ticket from Mustafabad constituency.
