India, July 17 -- The Supreme Court will on Friday hear a petition by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav that seeks an order to quash criminal proceedings against him in a land-for-jobs case during his tenure as railways minister and stay the trial pending before a Delhi court.
A bench of justices MM Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh will hear the case.
In his appeal filed last week, Yadav challenged an interim order passed by the Delhi high court on May 29 that refused to stay the trial in the case pending before a special court in Delhi.
The appeal, filed by advocate Mudit Gupta, said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed the case against him on May 18, 2022, after a 14-year delay without the central government'...
