New Delhi, Aug. 14 -- After facing criticism from several quarters, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday restored to the earlier practice of charging only 50 as examination fee from Class 10 and 12 students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes category in Delhi government schools. The Delhi government will cover rest of the fee, CBSE said.

The board had recently hiked the examination fee for SC/ST candidates from 375 to 1,200 for Class 10 students and from 600 to 1,200 for class 12 students in Delhi government and aided schools. For private schools in Delhi, the fee for SC/ST candidates was hiked from 750 to 1,500.
