Protests erupt in Manipur; council slams Kuki MLAs
Imphal, Feb. 6 -- Violent protests erupted in Churachandpur district of Manipur on Thursday, with the apex body of the Kuki-Zo communities announcing a social boycott of the three Kuki-Zo legislators who supported the formation of a new government on Wednesday.
The Kuki Zo Council (KZC) issued a social boycott notice against the three MLAs including deputy chief minister Nemcha Kipgen for going against the council's decision of not becoming a part of a new government unless the demand for a separate administration from these communities was addressed.
KZC later announced total shutdown in Kuki-Zo areas in protest against the decision of the MLAs to support the new government headed by Y Khemchand Singh, who comes from the Meitei community....
