New Delhi, Dec. 22 -- President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday gave assent to the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025 which replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). With the assent, it now becomes the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025, and a notification in this regard was published in the Gazette of India.
The President also gave assent to the SHANTI Bill Saturday, a government notification said. Meanwhile, politics over the contentious legislation continued, with the Opposition Congress threatening of a "mass movement" to oppose the law and the Centre accusing the opposition party of spreading misinformation about the legislation.
