No tree felling within 5km of Taj Mahal: SC
New Delhi, May 2 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday said that in the five-kilometre radius around Taj Mahal in Agra, not a single tree will be felled without its permission, even as it relaxed the norms for tree felling in areas beyond the demarcation.
The court order came on an application urging relaxation of the top court's May 2015 order that restricted tree felling in the entire Taj trapezium zone (TTZ) covering 10,400 square km.
