New Delhi, March 1 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Saturday directed the Delhi government to expedite the demarcation of Yamuna floodplain along a 22-kilometre stretch from Wazirabad to Palla, observing that the proposed timeline of August 2026 is not reasonable.
Hearing an ongoing case, a bench comprising Justice Prakash Shrivastava and expert member Dr Afroz Ahmad examined the status of compliance with its earlier directions. The matter stems from news reports regarding flooding and delays in floodplain demarcation. According to the order, the Delhi government submitted that Survey of India data had been shared with Geospatial Delhi Limited, which prepared a preliminary map.
