New Delhi, March 17 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has initiated a waste removal drive from railway tracks across the city and plans to hire private companies for regular cleaning, officials announced Sunday. MCD aims to clear the legacy waste within the next 10 days, after which a regular cleaning system will be implemented, officials said. The corporation has already cleared approximately 5,000 metric tonnes of waste, with an estimated 10,000 MT still remaining. MCD has deployed 145 vehicles including trucks, JCBs, among others and around 800 workers for the exercise.
