MCD formulates plan to improve inner colony rds
New Delhi, May 6 -- The engineering department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has planned a total 3,110 works and projects for the redevelopment and paving of around 1,300km of inner colony roads - around 21% of the total length of roads under the body - in the current financial year, civic officials said. However, the sharp rise in bitumen prices due to US-Iran war remains a key challenge.
1,662 of the projects, which cover around 715 km, with a capital expenditure of Rs.974 crore have already been sanctioned, while the department is trying to secure funding worth around Rs.900 crore through Chief Minister Development Fund and Central Road and Infrastructure Fund, according to the action plan, seen by HT.
