Bhubaneswar, Jan. 27 -- A man allegedly died by suicide in Bhadrak district of Odisha, after his daughter was paraded by a group of women on accusation of selling illicit liquor in the village, police said. "She was dragged through the road and brought to the local market area. The self help group members then allegedly demanded a fine of Rs.1 lakh as punishment for selling illicit liquor. Despite repeated apologies by my brother and my niece, the group refused to relent," the brother of the deceased alleged. The family in their complaint to police said the incident caused severe mental trauma to the woman's father who consumed insecticide on Sunday night and was declared dead in a local hospital on Monday.
