Maaya Rajeshwaran wins ITF junior title in France
MUMBAI, April 19 -- India's rapidly rising tennis player Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi clinched the joint-biggest title of her career on Saturday when she won the ITF J300 junior event on the clay courts of Beaulieu-Sur-Mer in France.
Playing Spain's Paola Pinera Celorio in the final, the 16-year-old from Tamil Nadu who trains at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca came from behind to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in a match that lasted two hours and 50 minutes.
It was Maaya's first title of this season, and matched the J300 title she won in New Delhi last year in terms of tournament weightage.
