India, March 28 -- Households and businesses in Karnataka will see an increase in their electricity bills from April, as the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has approved a hike in fixed charges for the next three years. The revised tariffs will be reflected in electricity bills from May onwards.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, while the energy charges have been marginally reduced by 10 paise per unit, the fixed charges will go up by Rs.25 in 2025-26, Rs.30 in 2026-27, and Rs.40 in 2027-28. Currently, the per-unit energy charge stands at Rs.5.90, with fixed charges at Rs.120.
Under the new tariff structure, the per-unit charge will be Rs.5.80 for the first two years and Rs.5.75 in 2027-28.
