India, Jan. 22 -- An exchange of fire broke out between Indian and Pakistani troops in the Keran sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara during the night of January 20-21, army officials said. The skirmish occurred when troops from 6 Rashtriya Rifles were installing surveillance cameras in Keran Bala along the Line of Control. Pakistani troops reportedly fired two rounds to disrupt the installation, prompting a single, calibrated retaliatory shot from the Indian side. No casualties were reported by either side. The Indian Army later launched a search operation in the area to check any infiltration attempt, officials said.htc
