New Delhi, Feb. 2 -- The Union Budget 2026-27 presented by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday showed mixed outcomes for wildlife and zoo-related funding, with the government deciding to withdraw the full customs duty exemption (Nil Basic Customs Duty - BCD) on animals and birds imported by zoos. Official documents said the ministry of environment, forests and climate change has been allocated around Rs.3,759 crore for 2026-27, with a marginal overall increase over the previous year.
