Rudrapur, Jan. 12 -- A 39-year-old farmer in Uttarakhand shot himself dead in a hotel room in Kathgodam early on Sunday, and in a video recorded before his death, he accused some Kashipur locals of duping him of Rs.4 crore in a land deal and US Nagar police of colluding with the alleged fraudsters. He uploaded the video on social media. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident and directed Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat to conduct the probe. Meanwhile, US Nagar superintendent of police Manikant Mishra denied the collusion charge, calling the deceased's allegations "baseless".
