India, Oct. 22 -- Paid domestic work is indispensable to the functioning of urban households in India. From the labour market perspective, it is a crucial source of livelihood for women from vulnerable families in cities. Yet, the sector remains precarious for domestic workers, because of insecure employment and low wages that fail to keep up with the rising costs of living in the city.
