Device row: Gzb cop let off with warning
Ghaziabad, Jan. 3 -- A Ghaziabad police officer, seen in a recent viral video telling slum dwellers they were from Bangladesh after pretending to use a device that could determine if they were illegal immigrants, has been let off with a "strict warning", officials said Friday.
Ajay Kumar Sharma, the station house officer of Kaushambi police station, was told to "refrain from such behaviour" and to "be polite in his interactions with the public" following an internal inquiry, officials said.
The video, shot during a routine area domination exercise on December 23, showed Sharma placing what appeared to be a smartphone on a man's back and declaring that he is "from Bangladesh."
