Decarbonisation focus in Union Budget 2026
New Delhi, Feb. 3 -- The 2026 Union Budget is out. Funds have been allocated to build green muscle as the uncertainty of the US tariffs continues. India has demonstrated its commitment to combating climate change, despite the global trend by wealthy nations to deprioritise it.
This Budget has invested in decarbonisation via infrastructure, technology and manufacturing. But, the air pollution crisis has not got the funds it needs.
An investment of Rs.20,000 crore was declared for Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technologies for steel, cement, chemicals, power and refineries.
