New Delhi/Chennai, Feb. 24 -- The Congress sought 40-41 assembly seats from Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK president MK Stalin for the upcoming state elections, along with a Rajya Sabha berth, during a meeting between Stalin and party general secretary KC Venugopal on Sunday, according to leaders aware of the discussions. The leaders cited above said the Congress also pitched for a Rajya Sabha seat, possibly to accommodate the party's media department head Pawan Khera, but did not press for a power-sharing arrangement, signalling a softer negotiating stance with its long-time ally.
