BEIJING, April 28 -- China has decided to block Meta Platforms Inc.'s $2 billion acquisition of agentic AI startup Manus, making a surprise move to unwind a controversial deal that's drawn fire for the leakage of technology to the United States.
Manus, which has Chinese roots but is based in Singapore, provides a general-purpose AI agent that can autonomously carry out sophisticated tasks like coding an app, doing market research or preparing quarterly budgets. bloomberg & ap
