Centre's plea on promotion to wankhede rejected by SC
New Delhi, Jan. 21 -- The Supreme Court has turned down the Centre's plea against an order for granting retrospective promotion to IRS officer Sameer Wankhede, even as the court clarified that dismissal of the petition will not come in the way of other proceedings against the officer.
The court further refused to interfere with the Delhi high court's earlier judgment which asked the Centre to promote Wankhede to the post of joint commissioner (Customs and Indirect Taxes), if found eligible.
The bench of justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe said: "We are not inclined to interfere with the impugned judgment. However, the dismissal of this matter will have no bearing on any other proceedings."
