BMC verdict: Cong slumps to its worst-ever showing
India, Jan. 17 -- The Congress has registered its worst-ever performance in municipal elections in Mumbai, with the party having won or leading in only 24 seats in the 227-seat BMC, down from 31 last time - but the outcome is unlikely to surprise anyone, including party insiders. After all, the Congress held no rallies, organised no roadshows, and launched no outreach efforts. It seemed to have entered the contest with few expectations. And even these were belied.
