New Delhi, April 24 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded Rohini councillor Pravesh Wahi for the post of the MCD mayor on Thursday, the final day for filing nomination papers. BJP also named Monika Pant for the deputy mayor's post, Jai Bhagwan Yadav as standing committee member and Leader of the House, and Manish Chaddha as a standing committee nominee. Elections for top posts three members of the standing committee of the civic body are due on April 29. BJP has clear majority in the house and its nominees will have a clear path to victory. Wahi was serving as the MCD Leader of the House until now. Speaking after filing the nominations, Wahi said that the immediate resolution of civic issues in Delhi remains his party's top priority. ...
