New Delhi, Jan. 6 -- Delhi Police on Monday said they rescued a 40-year-old businessman from a remote area in Maharashtra's Jalna district, four days after he was kidnapped from Delhi's Azadpur wholesale market.
Guddu Saroj was abducted on December 27 when at least three men from Maharashtra allegedly forced him into a Swift Dzire over a financial dispute, officers said. A case was registered after Saroj's friend reported a ransom demand of Rs.2.5 lakh.
Addl CP(northwest) Bhisham Singh said technical surveillance helped trace the victim's location. A police team conducted a raid on January 1, safely rescued Saroj and arrested one accused, Gyaneshwar Chavhan.
During questioning, Chavhan said Saroj owed Rs.2.5 lakh, police said Monday.
