AMRITSAR, Feb. 19 -- An unidentified assailant shot dead a village sarpanch in Punjab's Tarn Taran during a wedding function on Wednesday, police said. This is the second murder of a village head in the district since January 4. The victim, Harbinder Singh, represented the ruling Aam Aadmi Party. Tarn Taran SSP Surinder Lamba said the assailant and his armed associate escaped on a motorcycle with the help of a third accomplice who was waiting outside the venue.
