MUMBAI, Feb. 5 -- A 21-year-old civil engineering student at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) allegedly died by suicide in the early hours of Wednesday, police said. According to police, the incident took place around 1 am in the hostel located in Mumbai's Powai area. The student, who hailed from Rajasthan's Churu district, was found outside the nine-storey hostel, with police suspecting he jumped off the terrace. He was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said. "We examined CCTV footage of the terrace, and found the youth waiting on the terrace for nearly 10 minutes before jumping off," a police officer privy to the case details said, requesting anonymity.
