Raipur, Jan. 30 -- Two Maoist cadres were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said on Thursday.
The slain Maoists were identified as ACM Pradeep alias Joga, a member of the Pamed Area Committee carrying a reward of Rs.5 lakh, and PM Bhima Veko, a party member of the same committee with a bounty of Rs.2 lakh, police added.
The encounter took place in the Kawargatta-Gundrajgudem forested hill area, following specific intelligence inputs. A search operation was launched by the District Reserve Guard on Wednesday evening. After intermittent exchanges of firing subsided, a search led to the recovery of the bodies and an AK-47 rifle and a 9mm pistol, it said.
