100 bengal judges chosen to handle s.i.r. voter claims
Kolkata, Feb. 23 -- At least 100 serving and retired district judicial officers have been appointed so far in West Bengal to adjudicate pending disputed voter claims during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the poll-bound state, officials aware of the details said on Saturday.
The Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court Sujoy Paul held a meeting with state bureaucrats and Election Commission of India (ECI) officials on Sunday. "State chief secretary Nandini Chakraborty, DGP Peeyush Pandey, Kolkata Police commissioner Supratim Sarkar, ECI's special election observer Subrata Gupta were among those present at the meeting at the high court from 4-6pm," a court official said on anonymity.
