India, Feb. 25 -- The Supreme Court on Monday raised questions on the composition and functions of the Delhi high court's permanent committee after its recommendation to designate 70 lawyers as senior advocates last year. The recommendation sparked controversy after one of the committee members resigned for not being consulted before finalising the list.
A bench headed by justice Abhay S Oka was considering a petition filed by Raman Gandhi who was in the consideration but did not appear in the final list. On February 17, the top court had issued notice to the Delhi high court registrar general and called for the permanent committee's recommendation list.
