India, Feb. 13 -- Vasco Police Station have registered two separate FIRs in connection with APK-based cyber fraud incidents in which victims were cheated of more than 4 lakh.

In the first case, a resident of Mundvel was allegedly duped of 2.30 lakh by a man who posed as a bank officer. Police said the accused convinced the victim to download an application through an APK file on the pretext of resolving a banking issue. Soon after the file was installed, the amount was fraudulently debited from the victim's bank account.

In the second incident, a victim lost 1.83 lakh after opening an APK file that was claimed to be linked to an RTO e-challan. Immediately after accessing the file, unauthorised withdrawals were made from the person's ban...
