India, Oct. 4 -- Mortal Kombat II was scheduled to release this October, but has been postponed to 2026 to avoid the crowded release schedules at the end of 2025 and have a more profitable run in the Summer. The makers have been trying to build a new live-action franchise of the popular video game. The upcoming martial arts fantasy drama is the sequel to the 2021 movie which served as the reboot of the Mortal Kombat film franchise, first released in 1995. The interesting part is The Boys-fame Karl Urban has joined for the lead role in the sequel.
