India, Jan. 2 -- Zinc prices moved up in futures trade on Friday, supported by a pickup in spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), zinc futures for January delivery rose by Rs 1.50, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 309.55 per kg, with a trading volume of 5,493 lots.

Market participants said prices were buoyed by fresh position building amid increased demand from consuming industries, which kept zinc futures higher.
