India, Feb. 3 -- More than 26 lakh households across the country have benefited under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana as of December 2025, reflecting strong adoption of rooftop solar systems among residential consumers. The demand-driven scheme allows households with grid-connected electricity to install rooftop solar plants by applying through the national portal.
Since its launch in February 2024, over 20.85 lakh rooftop solar systems have been installed nationwide, benefitting around 26.14 lakh households. The government has disbursed ?14,771.82 crore as Central Financial Assistance to support installations and reduce upfront costs for consumers.
