India, Feb. 3 -- Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) reported its highest-ever monthly electricity traded volume of 13,050 million units (MU) in January 2026, marking a 19.6% year-on-year growth. Additionally, 23.91 lakh Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) were traded during the month.
As per government data, India's energy consumption stood at 142.74 billion units (BU), up 3.8% YoY. Higher generation from hydro, wind, solar, and steady coal-based supply improved liquidity on the exchange platform, leading to softer market prices.
