India, Jan. 30 -- The government has imposed a minimum import price (MIP) on three key pharmaceutical ingredients used in the manufacture of penicillin-class antibiotics—Penicillin G-potassium, 6-APA, and Amoxicillin Trihydrate—for a period of one year, according to an official notification.
These ingredients have been placed under the restricted import category. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), in a notification dated January 29, said imports of Penicillin G-potassium with a CIF value below Rs 2,216 per kg, 6-APA below Rs 3,405 per kg, and Amoxicillin Trihydrate below Rs 2,733 per kg will be restricted for one year from the date of publication.
