India, April 15 -- Gold and silver prices surged in the national capital on Wednesday, driven by strong buying interest from jewellers and stockists ahead of Akshaya Tritiya.

Silver prices spiked by Rs 11,800 to Rs 2.57 lakh per kg, while gold gained Rs 3,000 to reach Rs 1.58 lakh per 10 grams.

According to the All India Sarafa Association, the sharp rise in silver reflects a nearly 5% increase from its previous closing level, supported by festive demand and increased market activity.
