India, Jan. 9 -- Crude oil prices edged higher in futures trade on Friday, gaining Rs 84 to Rs 5,264 per barrel, supported by firm demand in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange of India, crude oil for February delivery rose by Rs 84, or 1.62 per cent, to trade at Rs 5,264 per barrel, with a turnover of 5,392 lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by participants, amid positive cues from the spot market, helped keep crude oil prices elevated in futures trading.
