India, Jan. 20 -- Crude oil prices edged higher in futures trade on Tuesday as participants increased their positions tracking firm demand in the spot market. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil contracts for February delivery gained Rs 9, or 0.17 per cent, to trade at Rs 5,431 per barrel, with a business turnover of 14,114 lots.

Analysts said increased buying by market participants, supported by steady spot demand, helped keep crude oil prices higher during the session.
