India, Jan. 29 -- Copper prices moved higher on Thursday, with futures rising Rs 79.30 to Rs 1,401 per kg, supported by improved demand in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), copper contracts for February delivery gained Rs 79.30, or 6 per cent, to Rs 1,401 per kg, with a trading volume of 17,913 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to higher buying interest from market participants, tracking firm spot demand.
