India, Feb. 1 -- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced that India will host the first-ever Global Big Cat Summit, bringing together heads of governments and ministers from 95 range countries to deliberate on coordinated strategies for wildlife conservation.
Presenting the Union Budget 2026–27 in the Lok Sabha, she highlighted that the International Big Cat Alliance was established last year to strengthen global cooperation for the protection of big cats.
The summit is expected to focus on joint conservation efforts, habitat protection, and sustainable wildlife management, reinforcing India's leadership role in global biodiversity initiatives.
