India, Feb. 1 -- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced that the government will set up one girls' hostel in every district across the country, aiming to improve access to education, safety, and accommodation for female students, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.

With over 700 districts nationwide, the move is expected to significantly expand residential infrastructure and encourage higher enrolment of girls in schools and colleges.

Additionally, the minister proposed a loan-linked capital subsidy support scheme for veterinary colleges, hospitals, and diagnostic laboratories to strengthen animal healthcare services and allied rural infrastructure.
