DAR ES SALAAM, Dec. 7 -- LEGENDARY Filbert Bayi has said that performance of sportspersons in Tanzania was below par, citing poor governance in sports and lack of professionalism in management as the major let down.

Bayi, who is also the Tanzanian Olympic Committee (TOC), Secretary General said many athletes' development process base on coaching or skill development models, sidelining the management.

"Most athletes in Tanzania are finding it hard to excel at the top level in the world because of poor management. Athletes' pathway to success needs both coaching and a well organised management," insisted Bayi, when gracing the Tanzania Olympians Association (TOA) Annual Assembly in Morogoro on Thursday.
